FRESH FROM ITS nomination at this year’s Golden Globes, John Carney’s excellent ’80s-based teen drama from the streets of Dublin has been added to Netflix less than one year after its initial release.
YES.
It’s pretty big news for anyone who’s been lucky enough to experience it in all its glory:
It popped up on Netflix UK & Ireland last week, and it’s just as good as everyone remembers from the cinema
There’s not too many chances to hear that distinctive Dublin accent when you log into Netflix
So this is a gift to anyone who hasn’t got the chance to catch it
Along with the Globes nomination, The LA Times (and plenty of other critics) were all over it when it came out last year:
It’s a sweetly funny, charming and poignant depiction of this very specific time in life — at once universal and specific — when anything seems possible. And with killer pop tunes to boot.
It’s got the comedy, nostalgia and characters to make you fall in love (with a scene-stealing turn by Jack Reynor)
*logs into Netflix immediately*
