Slideshow: Last night's lunar eclipse

The final lunar eclipse visible from Ireland until 2015 took place last night – with spectacular sights witnessed across the globe.

THE LAST LUNAR eclipse visible in Ireland until 2015 took place last night, with stargazers in some parts of the country getting clear views of the moon as it began to glow a deep red colour over the Earth.

While cloud cover obscured clear views in certain parts of Ireland and the UK however, viewers in Australia and south-east Asia were treated to especially spectacular sights.
