Smart dating: New app helps you track down where all the ladies hang out

Geo-location technology helping San Franciscans find best spots for chatting up women.

EVER GO TO a bar and think: There’s no talent here?

Someone has decided to provide a solution to the problem of finding out where all the ladies are at (their words, not mine) and launch an iPhone app with it. The app, wheretheladies.at (of course), was co-founded by American tech heads Danny Trinh and Jeff Hodson to track down where women were checking in on the geo-location programme Foursquare.

Essentially, according to TechCrunch.com, the app is a “big compass pointing you in the direction of ladies” in your area. Where someone’s Foursquare facility on their phone doesn’t specify their gender, the wheretheladies.at app trawls name dictionaries and analyses the information available to hazard a guess at their sex.

There are two downfalls of this programme. One, it seems to only be interested in pointing out where a critical mass of the female sex is gathering so there’s nothing of interest here for those trawling for men. Two, it’s only available so far in San Francisco.

If we were to add a third, we might just say: Ewww.
