Teen girls are freaking out over the disappearance of Snapchat's creeptastic 'best friends' feature

How will you keep track of bae now?

SNAPCHAT HAS REVERSED a decision to remove a ‘best friend’ feature from Snapchat after teen outcry.

The feature–which allowed users to view the people another user snapped the most–was removed in the latest app update. Many (seedy users) were only delighted. But what about the people who LIKED creeping. Let’s face it, it’s what most of us use social media for in the first place.

The feature and nature of Snapchat meant that if you had another user’s name ranked above ‘bae’s', while it could be completely innocent, you have no way of proving it. A teen user of the app told the Daily Dot that they also use it to predict relationships among their peers.

The top friends feature was used among teens to find out who would be dating soon. I know a few guys who were like, ‘Yeah, I had been snapchatting her a lot but I didn’t even beat X in her top friends so I bet she’s more interested in him.’

Well, chill. Founder and CEO Evan Spiegel has done a U turn and announced on Twitter that he would be bringing the feature back.

The latest app update was their largest ever, and introduced a Discover function which helps brands reach users with short video snippets.
