LAST WEEK, HBO aired Going Clear, a scathing exposé on the Church of Scientology.
The documentary leveled some serious accusations against the church, including allegations of slave labour and torture, and became a major talking point in the US media last week.
The film also featured a cheesy music video produced by the Church of Scientology in 1990. (You can watch it here.)
Over the weekend, Saturday Night Live spoofed the video in a rather scathing fashion.
In the music video for the fictional Church of Neurotology, the show alludes to the mysterious whereabouts of a number of Church of Scientology members and pokes fun at key tenets of Scientology, including billion-year contracts.
The response to the sketch was overwhelmingly positive with many praising it as one of the most “daring” things Saturday Night Live has done in years.
Even filmmaker Alex Gibney, who directed Going Clear, was full of praise.
