SNOOP LION-Y LION doesn’t really have the same ring to it as Snoop Doggy Dogg, but apparently the rapper has gone ahead with a name change.
News.com.au reports that Snoop has told journalists in New York that he was given the new name by Rasta priests in Jamaica.
A new film called Reincarnated documents the trip to Jamaica to record an album with Diplo. In the trailer for the film he says he wanted to make a whole album with no rap on it, just reggae.
Snoop has said that he wants to “bury” Snoop Dogg after a High Priest at a Rastafarian temple told him:
No more. You are the light; you are the lion.
