A Limerick woman found this frankly terrifying spider in her bananas after the Big Shop

NOPE. NO THANK YOU.

ARACHNOPHOBES MIGHT WANT to look away now.

Last week, Limerick woman Niamh O’Hara arrived home from doing the Big Shop in Dunnes Stores when she made a rather startling discovery.

This was lurking in her bag of bananas.

GOD HELP US AND SAVE US.

SURELY, THIS ISN’T NATIVE TO LIMERICK.

O’Hara brought the groceries back to the supermarket in question for fear of there being “spider babies all over the rest of the groceries”. Wise call.

So what kind of spider is that? Is it dangerous? Because it looks dangerous.

Andrew Whitehouse from Buglife, an invertebrate conservation charity, assured DailyEdge.ie that it appeared to be a House spider. “Native and not dangerous,” he told us.

But why is he so bloody big? During the Great Big Spider Invasion of 2014, arachonologist Myles Nolan explained to DailyEdge.ie that autumn is when common spiders reach their full size, meaning they appear bigger than they do at other times of the year.
