Women in Hong Kong are staring at the sun to try and lose weight
WE’VE HEARD OF juicing. We’ve heard of the 5:2 diet. But this? Never.
Women have been spotted staring directly at the sun on a beach in Sam Ka Village, Hong Kong, in order to lose weight.

Asian news website Coconuts reports that the women go at sunrise and sunset, hoping to ‘absorb solar energy’ as a substitute for calories from real food.
Though it sounds bonkers, the practice is not entirely unheard of – sun-gazing is said to be an “ancient therapy” that originated over 2000 years ago.
A 2011 documentary called Eat The Sun found that sun-gazers begin by staring at the sun for 10 seconds, then slowly increase it to 44 minutes a day in the hopes of being “cured of all mental and physical ailments” and losing the “desire or need to eat food”.

It appears that’s what the women in Hong Kong believe too, with one dieter telling on.cc:
We don’t need to tell you that staring at the sun is super harmful for the eyes, and not eating anything isn’t too great for you either. Just a tip.
