Stars horse around for new TV show
GIDDY UP! It’s neigh joke – some of Ireland’s most familiar faces will be getting together to try and rival the skills of horse trainers like Ted Walsh for a new RTE show.
The famous faces on Stars Go Racing, which will kick off on RTE One on 20 July, have been unveiled.
They are TV presenter and hotelier Francis Brennan, singer Linda Martin, TV weather presenter Jean Byrne, TV presenter Ella McSweeney, Munster rugby star Alan Quinlan and country singer Mike Denver.
They will battle it out over a series of race meets nationwide for a place in the final at Leopardstown, where the best team will lift the trophy.
During the show they will learn everything there is to know about horse training and will team up with a trainer to learn the ropes.
Linda Martin will work with trainer David Marnane, Francis Brennan will work with Joanna Morgan, Jean Byrne will work with Willie McCreery, Ella McSweeney’s trainer will be Michael Halford, Mike Denver is paired with Adrian McGuinness while Alan Quinlan will work with Jessica Harrington.
Expect to see them doing everything from mucking out the stables to managing jockeys along the way.
Each week the stars will gallop to another part of the country to put their skills to the test.
Stars Go Racing will begin on 20 July on RTE One>
