THE BIG MAKEUP companies may rule the roost, but it’s the smaller, independent ones that are doing the most interesting things.
Storybook Cosmetics are well known by makeup nerds for their movie and book-inspired collections – their Harry Potter-esque makeup ‘wands’ were immediately snapped up on their release last year.
Yesterday, they announced that they are working with Paramount to bring out a Mean Girls palette. Eeek!
The collab has been a long time coming – last year, they shared a concept sketch of a potential collection, saying it “all depends on licensing”.
Details are scarce as of yet, but the palette will take the shape of the Burn Book, with 12 shades (including a pink called ‘Wednesday’, we’re assuming).
Movie tie-ins are all the rage with independent makeup brands these days - Sola Look has created an official Dirty Dancing palette with eyeshadows, a highlighter, and a matte liquid lipstick.
Best of all, though? The packaging looks like the old VHS case.
This palette is €32, and shipping is not cheap… but maybe someone in your life who knows how much you love Dirty Dancing will get it for you. Who knows.
Storybook Cosmetics’ Mean Girls collection won’t be out until the autumn, so we have a while to wait for that – but we’ll be keeping an eye on their Instagram for sneak peeks.
