IF EVER THERE was a time for Noel Fitzpatrick to channel his inner Vetman - an imaginary superhero that features in his latest book – it was today.
While en route to the RTÉ studios to speak with Ray D’Arcy this afternoon, Noel AKA The Supervet brought traffic to a standstill with one swift wave of his hand after encountering a wayward swan in Donnybrook.
Naturally eager to ensure the swan’s safe relocation back to the canal, Noel ditched the car and took to the wet streets of Dublin by foot, before trotting behind the bird and encouraging it in the direction of the water.
On route to the next interview in Dublin this afternoon and we came across this poor confused fella who was stuck in the middle of the main road. Having experienced many Swan rescues down the years I knew I could help... mission accomplished...now happy and safe at home x pic.twitter.com/wXoOIk8JKP

And despite the wet weather, Noel took off his jacket and used it to pick up the swan and guide him back into the canal.
The incident, which was caught on film and uploaded to Twitter by the man himself, was clearly something he was accustomed to.
“On route to the next interview in Dublin this afternoon and we came across this poor confused fella, who was stuck in the middle of the main road,” he began his post.

If you want the full debrief, listen to his chat with Ray which took place in the aftermath of that epic rescue.
