The charming Irish Supervet was back on Channel 4 last night saving these adorable dogs
THE SUPERVET AND general animal miracle man Noel Fitzpatrick returned to our screens last night – and it was a *very* emotional start to the series.
Channel 4 Channel 4
The first patient in was 10-month-old German Pointer Hector – who has problems walking because of issues with his spinal cord.
It’s very serious, and Noel has to reveal to Hector’s family that any surgery could result in death:

It was devastating for Hector’s owners – but they knew it was necessary surgery

He would have to return in a week because Noel had to custom make implants for Hector’s surgery.
They didn’t ease us into the series gently
Next in was Labradoodle Mitzi – who’d been rushed to Noel after being hit by a car.
Before taking her through for immediate surgery, Noel asked her owner to say her goodbyes just in case.

Ah now.
We can’t handle The Supervet at all
Whoops!

It’s guaranteed tears
Especially when the poor owners get emotional at the thought of losing their dogs

Noel got Mitzi into surgery immediately – saying that because it’s less than 48 hours since the accident she has a much greater chance of survival.
The next 24 hours are crucial for Mitzi – and she’s kept under strict observation overnight.

A week has passed, and Hector’s implants are ready to go – so the couple and their two sons have to leave him with Noel for a few days.
And in he goes for risky surgery:
Please Noel, you know what to do:
Using some complex implants and surgery skills, Noel gets to work fixing that spinal cord:

The surgery went “fine” according to Noel – so he calls the family to let them know that everything went well.
Hector wasn’t out of the woods yet, but he was on his way to getting better

Noel then checks in with Mitzi and says she’s doing well enough to be discharged

And the moment he told the owners they were just delighted

Finally, we just needed to know how Hector was coping with his surgery recovery.
They showed him walking out so things were looking up

Noel tells the family that Hector is doing well – but that they can’t let him fall on his neck over the next couple of months as he heals

Noel gave them a bit of a pep talk:
It’s been revealed that Hector is doing just fine since the episode was shot
Noel has done it again

You have to love The Supervet <3
See you next week for another rollercoaster of emotions, Noel.
If we can handle it.
