Support acts confirmed for Kings of Leon's 2011 Slane gig
THE FULL LINE-UP for this year’s concert at Slane Castle has been confirmed this afternoon, with Elbow and Thin Lizzy among the acts taking the stage at this year’s gig.
Headliners Kings of Leon had been confirmed previously, with their name enough to sell out all 80,000 tickets for the annual occasion in just 40 minutes after the familial Tennessee fourpiece were confirmed in October.
Today concert organisers MCD confirmed Elbow and Thin Lizzy as among the support acts, with the bill completed by White Lies, Mona and The Whigs.
The inclusion of Thin Lizzy is particularly fitting given that this year’s gig marks the 30th anniversary of the first Slane concert in 1981, when the then-Phil Lynott outfit also featured.
MCD have also confirmed revised security and logistical operations for this year’s concerts, which will include a new setaside area for Dublin Bus passengers to be put on shuttle buses with direct access back to Dublin via the M1.
The arrangements came after many patrons complained of significant delays following last year’s concert, headlined by Oasis, when some buses did not arrive back in Dublin until 4am – despite having left the Co Meath village shortly after 11pm.
