His inspirational – and somewhat confrontational – acceptance speech for the Humanitarian Award at the BET Awards in 2016 went insanely viral, after he declared his award to be for his fellow black activists.
Prior to that, he addressed race relations on CNN in 2014, following the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.
Now, he’s spoken out on the issue of NFL players kneeling during the national anthem, to protest race inequality in the United States.
He’s gone after NFL owners for supporting Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential election, after the President called for the firing of players that did not stand.
In response, Williams said on MSNBC: ”There’s an incredible level of cowardice and selfishness in the ownership class in this particular league on this particular topic,”
