EVERYONE’S FAVOURITE REDHEAD, Domhnall Gleeson, is kicking off the Christmas ad season in style.
He’s the star of Burberry’s Christmas ad, a short film called The Tale of Thomas Burberry.
It’s a pity it’s not very… Christmassy.
The three and a half minute ad tells the story of the designer’s life and how his memories helped him shape his clothes.
Sienna Miller plays Tom’s first wife, who meets him in the rain and inspires his first waterproof coat.
Dominic West plays Sir Ernest Shackleton, who was the first man to attempt to cross the Arctic, and Lily James plays Betty Kirby-Greene who flew from England to Cape Town in 1937 in a Burberry flying suit.
Chief creative and chief executive officer Christopher Bailey explained why there’s not a bit of a Christmas tree in the ad:
This Christmas, as we celebrate our 160th anniversary we wanted to tell the story of Thomas Burberry, pioneer, inventor, innovator, and the man behind the iconic trench coat, in our own words.
