ACCORDING TO A new study, height is a determining factor on when men will get married and whether they will remain so.
The research, conducted by sociologists in NYU, found that tall men are more likely to tie the knot earlier and tend to marry better-educated, older women.
Meanwhile, short men are more likely to get married to younger, lower-educated women. On the plus side, though, their marriages tend to last longer than those of their tall counterparts. (See graph below.)
Elsewhere, short men are a whopping 1,450% more likely to marry someone taller than them, while taller men shun women who are as tall or taller than them.
The study also shows that the mean height difference between men and their wives is approximately 5½ inches – an average that has remained relatively constant since 1986.
Either way, it all bodes well for Jamie Cullum and Sophie Dahl.
