What to watch on TV this weekend

This is the telly everyone will be talking about on Monday.

Saturday highlights

The X Factor (Virgin Media One, 8.25pm) C’mon, you can resist a bit of the singing contest. 

Strictly The Best (BBC 1, 7.10pm) Catch up on past series highlights before the new series kicks off next week. 

The Jonathan Ross Show (Virgin Media Two, 10.50pm) Yes, this is still going and getting a mention here as Hozier will be performing on British TV for the first time since 2015. Josh Groban and comedian David Mitchell will also be appearing.

Sunday highlights

At Your Service (RTE 1, 8.30pm) Let Francis soothe your Sunday Fear. 

Bodyguard (BBC 1, 9pm) The acclaimed new drama continues. 

Who Do You Think You Are? (RTE 1, 9.30pm) Patt Shortt is next up to delve into his ancestry. He traces his name back five generations in rural Co Offlay, and discovers a link to a murder mystery. Not great.

Die Hard (e4, 9pm) Some people think it’s a Christmas movie, so get excited for three months time. 

The Ray D’Arcy Show (RTE 1, 9.45pm) Ray is joined by Stephen Rea, Lynn Ruane, Marty Morrisey and Aine Lawlor. Lit. 

Analyze That (RTE 2, 9.30pm) The sequel to Analyse This, wherein gangster Robert De Niro goes into therapy. 

David Walliams Presents the Return of Alright on the Night (Virgin Media One, 9.40pm) While we watch all of our human bloopers on YouTube now, it’ll be interesting to see how they reboot this one. 

Sunday 

Back to the Future (e4, 6.40pm) You could not want to spend Sunday evening with anyone else but Marty McFly. 

Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls (Channel 4, 9pm) If watching celebs such as Pete Wicks and journalist Paris Lees survive in the wilderness is your thing. 

Dragon’s Den (BBC 2, 8pm) More hopeful business minds get their ideas analysed.
