Tracy Chapman has filed a lawsuit against Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj is in hot water after Grammy Award-winning folk artist, Tracy Chapman, filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against her in federal court.
The suit, which was filed in a LA court, claims Minaj used a sample of Chapman’s Baby Can I Hold You without permission.
It is understood that Chapman consistently turned down requests from Minaj’s camp to permit the use of the sample on Minaj’s unreleased track, Sorry.

While the track was not included in Minaj’s Queen album, it was reportedly provided to a DJ at New York’s Hot 97 station, who played it on air and released it on social media channels.
