THERE WASN’T MUCH luck for the Irish at this year’s Golden Globes.
However, Irish-produced royal black comedy ‘The Favourite’, with Olivia Colman nabbing the gong for best actress in a motion picture, comedy or musical.
Bet Mark Corrigan’s feeling PRETTY embarrassed now.
Colman’s portrayal of grumpy, gout-ridden Queen Anne won out over fellow nominees Emily Blunt (‘Mary Poppins Returns’), Elsie Fisher (‘Eighth Grade’), Charlize Theron (‘Tully’) and Constance Wu (‘Crazy Rich Asians’). Not to worry though, because they all did very well to be nominated in the first place.
Upon accepting her award she joked that she wasn’t going to cry because her table “would laugh” at her.
She also thanked “my bitches,” in reference to her castmates Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz, who were also nominated for best supporting actress.
Colman also said she wanted to talk about how much the Yorgos Lanthimos-directed film meant to her but she “couldn’t think of it” due to the nerves and excitement. Fair, to be honest.
She added, “I had a fucking blast!”
This is Colman’s second Golden Globe, having previously won in 2017 for her role on ‘The Night Manager’.
Now, any chance of getting an air date for the next season of The Crown please, Netflix?
