The Happy Pear (and other Irish cafés) will appear on this Netflix show - here's what you need to know
HAVING ALREADY CONQUERED Ireland, it seems that the Happy Pear boys have set their sights on global domination.
The Greystones duo tweeted yesterday that they will appear on Netflix’s I’ll Have What Phil’s Having, a food travel show fronted by Everybody Loves Raymond creator Phil Rosenthal.
I’ll Have What Phil’s Having was recently acquired by Netflix after running for one season on PBS. Each episode sees Rosenthal travel to a different city to sample the best of their cuisine.
In the first season, Rosenthal visited Paris, Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Tokyo, and featured appearances from celebrities like Ray Romano, Martin Short, Allison Janney and Larry Wilmore.
Rosenthal is currently traveling around Ireland. Earlier this week, he stopped off in The Chunky Chip in Clonakilty to horse into some chips.
He tucked into a spread in Hatch & Sons.
He admired the pastries in Brother Hubbard.
He raved about Irish soda bread in Cork’s Hayfield Manor, going so far as to describe it as “one of the more delicious things you can eat in this world”.
And he posed for a seaside selfie with The Happy Pear crew.
No word on whether they got him to do a handstand.
The series is due to air on Netflix in June 2018.
We’ll be keeping an eye out.
