The Interview now has a near-perfect IMDb rating despite the fact that nobody has seen it

It’s all thanks to 4chan.

OVER THE WEEKEND, Sony announced its intention to release its controversial North Korea film The Interview, while conceding that they don’t know what platform it will be distributed on yet.

At the same time, 4chan users launched a campaign to spam the film’s IMDb with perfect 10.0 ratings.

The film has now received 26,435 reviews, the vast majority of which are perfect tens.

It currently has a 9.9 rating, but it did briefly enjoy a 10.0 rating and the status as the highest-rated comedy on IMDb.

Though it has yet to be included in IMDb’s Top 250, its current rating puts it ahead of The Shawshank Redemption, The Godfather and Pulp Fiction.

The comedy found itself at the centre of an international crisis last week after Sony announced that it would delay its Christmas Day release following a massive hack believed to have been carried out by North Korea.

North Korea has denied responsibility for the hacks, which saw private e-mails and internal documents leak into the public domain.
