WITH THE PROMISING news that The Fresh Prince of Bel Air is being added to the lineup at Netflix Ireland comes increased hope that another great nineties sitcom might soon be available for binges.
Dozens of tweets EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
The Nanny ran from 1993 to 1999 and saw Fran Drescher play the titular character Fran Fine, who was “working in a bridal shop in Flushing Queens, til her boyfriend kicked her out in one of those crushing scenes”.
As the (absolute banger) theme tune goes on to tell us, Fran goes out door to door selling makeup in a swanky neighbourhood, and is mistaken as the new nanny for the three children of Maxwell Sheffield.
Unfortunate misunderstandings are the basis of many the great story, and that’s the case with The Nanny, as Fran’s unconventional ways are integrated into the Sheffields’ lives.
And the outfits, oh the outfits
Fran Drescher’s wardrobe on The Nanny is so wonderfully nineties that it’s the subject of the hugely enjoyable Instagram account What Fran Wore.
Not to mention the romance
Has there ever been a greater Will They/Won’t They? couple than Fran and Maxwell?
And C.C. and Niles of course
So please Netflix, do the right thing, and get your hands on The Nanny, pronto.
