These are the products you need to stock up on now that The Ordinary seems to be dead

Time to stock up.

EARLIER THIS WEEK, Deciem founder Brandon Truaxe announced that he would be shuttering the business in an erratic Instagram post, alleging “major criminal activity”.

The Deciem website has been replaced with an HTML page, and stores are reportedly closed across the UK and US.

It comes after a leaked email was shared with Cosmopolitan UK allegedly from Mr Truaxe, instructing all stores to close and reopen in 2019.

People are mourning the loss of the company’s beloved budget skincare line The Ordinary. Never fear though – you can still pick up products in a few places. At the time of writing, arnotts.ie, Cloud 10 BeautyCult Beauty and Look Fantastic all have the majority of the line left in stock.

Here’s what you need to get in your basket ASAP:

The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% (€7.20)

This bad boy doesn’t get nearly enough praise – this is your one stop shop if you’re looking for something to target texture and brighten your skin.

It’s important to note that if you do you use too much, it tends to ball on your skin. A little goes a long way! Make sure you apply your SPF after using it too, as it heightens your skin’s sensitivity to sunlight!

The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution (€5.30)

This sorts out breakouts in a flash – you can use it to spot treat breakouts, or use it all over to “maintain clarity with continued use”.

If you’re on the more sensitive side, you probably won’t need to do this, but it’s all about trial and error.)

The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil (€9.80)

This is the brand’s hero oil (though Squalene also gets a fair amount of praise).

Lash this on before bed, wake up looking like a supermodel (not really, but you should feel the difference in your skin over time in terms of hydration and glow).

The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA (€5.80)

If you find the very concept of The Ordinary a bit of a mind melt, you can feel safe in picking up this sole product and being done with it.

This is a moisturiser with hyaluronic acid, glycerin, urea, phospolipids, among other factors that keep the skin protected and hydrated on the surface level. It’s relatively idiot-proof – give your skin the big drink it needs.

The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

download (1)

This is considered a holy grail product for those suffering with texture issues and-or skin congestion (zinc is used to balance the sebum production of your skin).

Niacinamide also helps to reduce the appearance of enlarged and visible pores thanks to its ability to help restore skin’s elasticity.

Heads up – if you get this and find yourself still breaking out after a period of “purging”, you may be reacting to the zinc, and you should probably discontinue using it.
