The patter of tiny tweets: Couple live-blog their baby's birth on Twitter

The internet held its breath as the British couple posted minute-by-minute updates on the labour – from the breaking of the waters to naming the baby.

A BRITISH COUPLE live-tweeted the birth of their second child over the weekend, complete with details of contractions and the music they were listening to at the time.

Photographer Mary Wycherley and songwriter Martin Carr – former lead guitarist with Nineties rock band The Boo Radleys – posted regular updates from the labour at their home in Cardiff from Sunday night through to yesterday morning. And the developing story came with a happy ending – they had a baby daughter, who they have named Sailor, according to a later Twitter post.

From the moment the waters broke, the couple’s followers were treated to minute-by-minute bulletins on everything from what they were watching (Grease, followed by a Bob Dylan documentary), to their use of a TENS machine to reduce pain, to the song playing on the stereo.
