Are you sitting down? Here's what The Point is going to be called now
Maxwells / Three Maxwells / Three / Three
THREE HAVE CONFIRMED that the new name for The O2/The Point/The Point Depot is…. The ’3Arena’.
Makes sense. It’s now owned by 3. It’s an arena. The Three Arena. Grand.
Why they didn’t go with The ThreeHouse, A-Three-Na, The Point Three-atre, Live at 3 or the countless other stellar suggestions our readers came up with is beyond us.
The name change is part and package of the takeover of O2 in Ireland by Three. Yesterday the O2 branding was stripped from the venue on North Wall Quay in Dublin’s Docklands.
The launch of the new venue will be celebrated next week with ’3Arena Illuminated’ from 10-13 September.
Alright, you’ve got our attention.
The idea is that the project will collect music fans’ memories via social media and “share them with the world”.
(Let’s leave out that time we puked in a shoe at Arctic Monkeys and wept the whole way through Mardy Bum, eh?)
