THE R.A.G.E. video game and music store on Fade Street has put out a beacon of hope to anyone who likes the sound of hanging out, listening to music, having a drink, and battling away on some classic arcade games.

In a Facebook post, the people behind The R.A.G.E. have confirmed that they’ve moved forward in plans to ‘set up a venue in the city’.

They say they’ve secured a “HUGE premises” and “compiled amazing original arcade machines, top tier pinballs, and we’ll provide drinks, snacks, music, consoles, events, screenings and more”.

Planning documents submitted by the company behind the venture suggest that a new shop, restaurant and possibly a bar are on the way on the Northside of the city, aimed at “people with interest in vinyl and traditional gaming machines”.

A venue, which has been on the cards since last April, was granted planning permission shortly before Christmas. It’s not clear if an appeal on a previously declined planning application for a venue near Smithfield was successful, or if a different location has been sourced.

A spokesperson for The R.A.G.E. told DailyEdge.ie that while planning is ongoing they are reluctant to reveal any more details. With three years of work behind the project already, they say they would not like to ‘mislead or disappoint any potential customers’.

On commenter on The R.A.G.E.’s Facebook page hopes that the news might mean a Barcade-style venue is coming to Dublin.

Barcade is a popular venue in Brooklyn which serves beer and provides games. What more could you want?
