THE SCRIPT HAVE become unlikely heroes after pulling a woman from the wreckage of a dramatic car crash yesterday.
The Dublin band were travelling on the M40 motorway from London to Manchester when they saw a female motorist hitting the dividing barrier and flipping over.
Speaking to radio station Key 103, singer Danny O’Donoghue said they immediately sprang to action:
We jumped out but her door was jammed, it wouldn’t open. She was looking straight ahead in shock, I tried to get her attention and knocked on the windows.
She said she couldn’t feel her legs and we were really worried so we talked to her for a little bit. She was so weak she couldn’t get out of the car. We just helped her over to the side of the road, sat her down, put a jacket round her, gave her a drink and stayed with her until the ambulance came.
O’Donoghue said there was a moment of comic relief when the woman realised who her rescuers were and screamed “OH MY GOD IT’S THE SCRIPT!”
The driver phoned in to the radio station to praise the group, saying: “I gave them a cuddle before I left but I never said thank you.” Aw.
Fair play, lads. Fair play.
