Thousands turn out to pay respects to 'Hurricane' Higgins.
THOUSANDS of mourners have turned out at the funeral of snooker legend Alex White.
Good friend and fellow snooker legend Jimmy White led mourners from Higgins’ Belfast home this morning, to St. Anne’s Church of Ireland Cathedral. White, who was in tears, was flanked by snooker greats Stephen Hendry, Joe Swail and Ken Doherty.
The funeral procession was led by a horse drawn carriage as family and friends of the 61-year-old followed in procession.
A fresh mural to the two-times world champion featured on the wall opposite the scene of his lonely death.
Hundreds of mourners lined the streets, to greet and pay their final respects to Alex ‘Hurricane’ Higgins.
The 61-year-old died last month after a long battle with throat cancer.
The funeral service is to be begin at 11.30am.
