Toddler saved from four-storey fall by British tourist
A YOUNG CHILD was saved from serious injury when a quick-thinking tourist spotted the toddler was about to fall from her hotel’s fourth-floor balcony and rushed to rescue her.
Helen Beard was at the pool of the Econo Lodge in Orlando when she spotted the child dangling from a balcony at the hotel and ran to catch her, WKMG reports.
Emergency services told WESH Orlando that the woman successfully broke the two-year-old girl’s fall and neither was injured.
The girl was taken to hospital as a precaution because she had struck a railing during the fall, but did not have any bruises or marks.
Police said that the child’s parents had been in a different room and a friend was watching the child at the time. Officials from the Department of Children and Families are investigating the incident and have met with the parents.
