Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes reach divorce settlement

The couple will take account of their “respective beliefs” in bringing up their daughter Suri.

LESS THAN TWO weeks after filling for divorce, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have reached a settlement over the division of their assets and custody of their daughter.

The details of the settlement have been kept private, but in a statement the couple said that they would act in the “best interests” of their daughter Suri and take account of their “respective beliefs” in her upbringing.

“We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri’s best interests,” the statement said.

We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other’s commitments to each of our respective beliefs and support each other’s roles as parents.

“The case has been settled and the agreement has been signed,” her lawyer Jonathan Wolfe said. “We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life”.

Holmes filed for divorce in June, five years after she and Cruise got married.

Cruise was named as the highest-paid actor in Hollywood last week after earning $75 million (€60 million) between May 2011 and May 2012.
