BACK IN JULY, Conor McGregor’s father, Tony, felt duty-bound to air his views on the ‘Dublin Area Rapid Transport’.
He was referring to the DART, which is – in actual fact – an acronym for Dublin Area Rapid Transit, not Transport, but that’s by the by.
Tony admitted that he was ‘none too plussed’ by his experience, explaining that after ‘tending a brand new crisp €20 note’, the automatic machine had the cheek to provide coinage in change.
And look, if you’re a man working a ‘slim-fit, hand-fitted Hugo Boss suit’, you’re not here to deal with coinage. €17.30 in coinage, to be exact.
Naturally, the video went viral, not lest because Tony looked like he had placed a sunglasses filter over his face.
The dust has now settled, but the memory of his father’s monologue is seared into Conor’s mind, by the sounds of things.
While speaking to Ariel Helwani on his MMA show, Conor admitted he was longing for his mother to appear and put a stop to it.
I’ll tell you what I’m thinking, I’m thinking ‘Where’s me ma to get that man’s phone out of his bleedin hands?
In fact, Conor didn’t care who put a stop to it, as long as someone did.
Somebody get that man’s phone off him.
Fair, to be honest.
If you want to revisit that magic moment of the summer, you can.
