Transformers 3 extra seriously injured
A WOMAN WORKING on the third Transformers film was seriously injured during an action sequence today, causing the set to be shut down.
E! Online reports that the woman was driving a car during a scene involving several vehicles and drivers, when an object broke through the windscreen and struck her on the head.
The car travelled for about a mile after the driver was injured before coming to a halt.
The woman was airlifted to hospital, but police have not released her name yet. Local TV station WLS-TV identified her as a 24-year-old stuntwoman Gabriella Cedillo, and said she had been struck by a loose tow cable.
Transformers 3 is the latest installment in the hugely popular Transformer action series.
Star Shia LaBeouf will be reprising his lead role in the film, which is being directed by Michael Bay. Bay directed the first two Transformer films. English model Rosie Huntington-Whitely replaces Megan Fox as the female lead.
The crew has been shooting scenes for the film in the Chicago area all summer. Today, they were working in Hammond, a suburb of Chicago.
