SO, YOU’RE GOING on holidays, you lucky so and so. Here’s how to make life at the airport that little bit sweeter.
1. When booking a flight online, clear your cache
Clearing cache and cookies ensures you’re getting the newest, and possibly cheapest tickets.
2. Fly in the morning where possible
If you’re a nervous flier, you’re better off getting a morning flight, as you’re less likely to experience bad turbulence. Also, they’re cheaper and will have less on board. Win win.
3. Bring a battery pack
Last thing you want to do on a long flight is run out of Candy Crush juice. These can be bought in Tiger for next to nothing.
4. Pack your bags the right way
And be sure you’re within the right weight restrictions if you’re carrying on. Wear your coat and heaviest boots.
5. Turn left in the security queues
Studies have found that most right handed people will go to their right, and as most people are right handed, this makes the queues longer.
Go left!
6. What to take off
In Dublin airport, you should preempt taking off your coat, belt, laptop out of bag, and putting it all in a tray. You might be asked to take off your shoes too if they’re clunky, but get the other stuff over with first.
7. Buy your minis or liquids when you get there
Common sense really, if money isn’t an issue. Most hotels will provide shampoo and the like, so collect these and bring them next time. WIN WIN.
8. Bring a water bottle
Preferably a collapsible one, and fill it up before you board.
9. Bring alcohol minis
Save money on the flight… just be discreet.
10. Bling up your luggage
Attach a bright tag to your luggage so you’ll notice it straight away on the luggage belt. All the faster to hit the sun.
