Trinity College SU is offering a discount on vibrators for its 'Deal of the Week'

The SU is offering a 33% discount on a butterfly vibrator.

IT’S A TIME when student engagement with their student unions seems to be taking a nosedive with student voting in DCU for example dropped by 40% from last year.

Luckily for us Trinity College Student’s Union have stepped up to the plate with a cracking ‘Deal of the Week’ in their weekly email.

The union have deviated somewhat from their usual deals of cheap coffee and burritos to offer their students a somewhat stimulating offer.

The deal allows Trinity students to purchase a ‘Butterfly Pink’ vibrator from online retailer ‘Playblue’ for a discounted price of €15. A 33% discount? Bargain.

All students have to do is click the image in the email where they’re brought to the site and enter the code ‘Trindeal’. Unfortunately free delivery only comes once you’re over €20 so the students may have to make some extra purchases to get that sweet, discrete free delivery.

Given that there was once a time where it was illegal to give out condoms to anyone, it’s wild to see how far we’ve come as a country. Because nothing says social progress like your SU giving you a 33% discount on a vibrator.

The vibrator itself has 3 speeds and can rotate in 2 different directions and all it requires is three AAA batteries. What a time to be alive.

Playblue even offer you a 2 minute Youtube video which shows you how to use the product so TCD students pretty much have no excuse.

TCDSU Communications and Marketing Officer Úna Harty told DailyEdge.ie that the idea came from an sex toy bingo event held in the college last week as part of International Women’s Week. The SU want to promote positive sex and take shame out of the equation.

By choosing to have a vibrator as a deal of the week we’re just saying “Hey! We know you have sex! here’s a way of making it a little more exciting!” and I don’t think there’s any harm in that! Why have mediocre sex when you can have great sex!

Not everyone is happy with the deal with one social media user remarking ‘If you think I’m going to donate a single cent to the alumni fund to support this #degeneracy you are sadly mistaken. Cancel my direct deposit and remove my details from your mailing list.’

You can’t please everyone I guess.
