Tubs talks 'tabloid' stardom and JFK on MSNBC
RYAN TUBRIDY HAS talked JFK, Obama and being “a tabloid star” on MSNBC’s Morning Joe progamme.
After welcoming him onto the show, host Willie Geist tells Tubridy “you’re this huge tabloid star in Ireland,” adding “you even have a tabloid name – ‘Tubs’”.
Tubridy explains the nickname is due to his “weight problem”.
Talking about the Late Late show, Tubridy referred to original host Gay Byrne as Ireland’s “own Johnny Carson”, adding that “somebody else did it for ten years” before he himself took over the reigns.
After jokingly calling Tubridy ”the biggest star in Ireland and perhaps in that nation’s history”, Geist asks him about his book – ‘JFK in Ireland: Four Days that Changed a President,’ which covers the president’s trip to Ireland in 1963.
And – as any good ambassador to Ireland should – Tubridy remembered to tell anyone with a ‘bit of Irish in them’ to come over for a visit.
