Turkish Girl Power: Fenerbahce plays in front of all-female audience
WOMEN AND CHILDREN only.
That is according to a radical new rule implemented by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) this week.
After football club Fenerbahce was ordered to play two home matches behind closed doors, the association tweaked the ruling slightly and said that women and children under the age of 12 could be admitted.
The unusual solution for tackling crowd violence was a hit with the team’s female following.
Despite only being told about the decision 24 hours before kick-off, about 41,000 women and children filled the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in Istanbul on Tuesday night.
The move was taken by the TFF after Fenerbahce fans invaded the pitch during a friendly against Ukranian champions Shakhtar Donetsk.
In the end, the Canaries drew 1-1 with Manisapor in the Turkish League game. Check out the scenes after Dia scored for Fenerbahce:
