A Year of British Murder (Channel 4, 9pm)
In 2017, 768 people died in Britain as a result of manslaughter or murder. Averaging at 14 people a week between January 1st and December 31st, this documentary seeks to establish what these figures suggest about modern Britain. With focus on the victims’ families as they navigate the judicial system in the aftermath, A Year of British Murder shines a spotlight on individual cases, and their implications as a whole.
Panorama (BBC One, 8.30pm)
In the 1990s, 450 patients at Gosport War Memorial Hospital had their lives cut short. An official enquiry established that a number were given fatal doses of painkillers, and tonight, Richard Bilton examines the cases and challenges those at its centre.
Everyone is talking about… Gillian Anderson
Whether you know her from The Fall or The X Files, it may come as a surprise to learn that Gillian Anderson is now set to play one of Britain’s most famous leaders; Margaret Thatcher.
The actress is said to be appearing as the former Prime Minister in the fourth season of Netflix’s The Crown.
