What to watch on TV tonight: Thursday

This is the telly everyone will be talking about tomorrow.

DAILYEDGE.IE ROUNDS UP the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

Britannia (Sky Atlantic, 9.00pm)

Britannia’s a bit like Game Of Thrones, only a bit more self-aware. Having marked Rome’s arrival with blood, Aulus sends envoys to parlay with the tribes of Britannia, while also looking to learn more about the Druids.

Derry Girls (Channel 4, 10.00pm)

The Quinns play host to Katya, one of a group of Ukrainian children who have been sent from their homeland in the wake of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. But while Erin is excited about sharing her wisdom with her house guest, Katya turns out to be a lot less grateful to be in Derry than expected. Meanwhile, the rest of the family has other preoccupations – a new development in Granda Joe’s love life that leaves his daughters deeply unimpressed.

Big Cats (BBC One, 8.00pm)

The final documentary focuses on the scientists who are studying wild cats in more detail than ever before – and the ground-breaking discoveries they are making. Professor Alan Wilson has been researching the cheetah, using hi-tech collars to rewrite what is understood about the fastest animal on land – revealing that its speed is not its greatest weapon. There is also a look at cat conservation, with stories including that of the Iberian lynx. Cat people should be all over this.
