Everyone’s talking about…Veronica Guerin
Last night, RTÉ One aired Veronica Guerin – the 2003 movie which tells the story of the crime reporter who was gunned down on the Naas Dual Carriageway 20 years ago.
The film, which starred Cate Blanchett, Gerard McSorley, Ciaran Hinds and Brenda Fricker, reminded viewers just how incredible the performances were.
And, more importantly, how incredible Veronica herself was.
You really couldn’t imagine anyone else but Cate Blanchett playing the role of #VeronicaGuerin. It’d would’ve been Oscar worthy if it was an international story.

Veronica Guerin...it doesn’t matter how many times I watch it gets me every single time. What a film. What a Woman #VeronicaGuerin

The murder of #VeronicaGuerin was our JFK moment as I will never forget where I was when I heard the breaking news on the radio - parked at County Hall, Cork waiting for my husband who was paying the car tax. Some small consolation to her family that her death was not in vain.
