What to watch on TV tonight: Friday

Here are the shows that will be on your Twitter timeline later.

EVERY WEEKDAY lunchtime, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

Brendan O’Carroll on Graham Norton (BBC1, 10.35pm)

How often do you get to see Mrs Brown on the same sofa as Cheryl Cole? Well, tonight is the night: the two are both guests on Graham Norton, ahead of the release of Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Movie. It’s a fair bet that things are going to get weird, especially as the line-up also includes leathery Miami Vice star Don Johnson. #GrahamNorton

Seven Wonders of Brazil (BBC2, 9pm)

As if England getting knocked out of the World Cup wasn’t enough to make you feel good about Brazil, here’s a fine old BBC documentary about the strange (to Irish eyes at least) mix that is Brazilian Catholicism. Let’s just say the dancing is better than at Knock.

The Green Mile (TV3, 9pm)

Pick of the Friday night movie lineup is this Stephen King adaptation starring Tom Hanks as a Death Row guard who can’t believe a convicted child-killer under his watch is guilty. Avoid if you don’t want to sob into your pillow in front of your parents/partner/children/cat.

Everybody’s talking about: Better Call Saul

AMC AMC

The Breaking Bad prequel centred around rule-mangling lawyer Saul Goodman has already been renewed for a second season, long before we’ve even had a sniff of the first one. AMC announced yesterday that they’ve commissioned another run of Bob Odenkirk as Goodman, while simultaneously pushing the first season back to 2015 at the earliest. (Washington Post)

Or switch over for…

  • Friday Night Dinner (Channel 4, 10pm) New series of the comedy.
  • Billy Joel: Live In Leningrad (BBC4, 10.15pm) Why not watch the king of 1980s piano-rock belting things out in Soviet Russia? Are you saying you’ve got something better to do?
  • The Inbetweeners (Channel 4, 10.35pm) A three-episode mini-marathon of clunge, running until the wee hours.
  • Airplane II: The Sequel (Channel 4, 12.15am) Enjoyably awful sequel.
