DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.
University Challenge (BBC2, 8pm)
It’s back! And we’re ready to meet the new crowd of clever clogses (we just made that word up) hoping to cadge the title. Sheffield takes on Bristol in the first-round opening match. #UniversityChallenge
Exodus: Our Journey To Europe (BBC2, 9pm)
This three-part series, mostly filmed on mobile phones, charts the course of refugees who risked their lives to smuggle themselves across continents to safety in Europe.
The Informant! (TG4, 9.30pm)
Matt Damon stars as a corporate drone turned FBI mole setting out to expose his employers’ corrupt business practices. However, his own delusions threaten the entire operation. Steven Soderbergh directs.
Everybody’s talking about: John Giles
After 30 years of football punditry, the great Johnny Giles retired from broadcasting after last night’s Euro 2016 final. RTÉ paid tribute to him with a lovely montage at the end of the show, and it just might make you tear up:
Or flick over for…
- Top Gear (BBC2, 7pm) The last in the series (and the last to feature host Chris Evans) sees the lads testing out Porches and MGB Roadsters.
- Love Island – Finale (UTV Ireland, 9pm) The oddly compelling dating show finishes up tonight – expect plenty of drama.
- Rich Kids of Instagram (E4, 9pm) A Rich Kid heads to Berlin to party it up with other rich kids he met online.
- Clerys (RTÉ One, 9.35pm) A repeat of this documentary about the history and closure of the iconic and much-missed Dublin department store.
- Kinky Britain (Channel 4, 10pm) A look at the world of ‘bespoke’ fetish video production, following filmmakers making a fortune off other people’s fantasies.
