What to watch on TV tonight: Saturday
Every lunchtime, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.
Noel Gallagher on The Saturday Night Show (RTÉ One, 9.35pm)
No, you can believe your ears – Noel Gallagher is the star guest on tonight’s show. He’ll be chatting to Brendan O’Connor about his new album with the High Flying Birds as well as performing two songs. Elsewhere, Kathryn Thomas will talk Operation Transformation, and GAA pundit Joe Brolly will discuss the importance of organ donation. #satnightshow
Gladiator (RTÉ2, 9pm)
Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix star in this multi-Oscar winning Roman yarn, directed by Ridley Scott. Crowe is Maximus, a general who is betrayed when the emperor’s son seizes the throne. Now pick up your sword and roar: “ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?”
Mystic River (TV3, 10.55pm)
Clint Eastwood directs a muscular cast (Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, Kevin Bacon and Laura Linney, to name but a few) in this adaptation of Dennis Lehane’s novel of the same name. Three men are reunited when one has a family tragedy, and their troubled childhoods cast a shadow over their lives once more.
