What to watch on TV tonight: Wednesday
EVERY WEEKDAY lunchtime, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.
Rachel Allen’s All Things Sweet (RTÉ One, 8.30pm)
Wednesday night may be GBBO night (more on that below) but Rachel Allen has come to challenge the BBC’s dominance over bakery. In this new series, Rachel will be whipping up all kinds of sweet treats – tonight’s menu includes salted caramel créme brulée. Starving already.
Great British Bake Off (BBC1, 8pm)
We’re into the quarter finals now, and the five remaining chefs will be trying extra-hard to please judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood. Tonight’s episode concerns ‘advanced dough’ – that’s sweet fruit loaves, eastern European breads and ‘show-stopping’ doughnuts. Show-stopping doughnuts? Now this we have to see. #gbbo
The Proposal: Reality Bites (RTÉ 2, 9.30pm)
“No, no, no…please don’t do this…Yes.” The immortal words spoken by New Orleans Rose Molly Molloy Gambel when her boyfriend Kyle proposed to her live on stage during 2013′s Rose of Tralee. This documentary follows the couple as they organise their wedding back home. #theproposal
Everybody’s talking about… #TrueDetective
Last night, after months of speculation, it was confirmed that Vince Vaughn would be starring alongside Colin Farrell in the second season of True Detective.

Vaughn’s character sounds interesting – ‘a career criminal in danger of losing his empire’ – and surprisingly, people are pretty enthused about the casting.
Colour us intrigued.
Or switch over for…
