What to watch on TV tonight: Wednesday

Here are the shows that’ll be on your Twitter timeline later.

EVERY WEEKDAY lunchtime, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

Champion’s League: Paris St Germain v Chelsea (RTÉ Two, 7.30pm)

The first leg of this quarter-final clash sees Chelsea meet the French giants in Paris. We’re letting you know about it here so you can either (a) get the snacks in, or (b) lay early claim to the remote control to prevent the football fan in your house from taking over. Real Madrid are also playing Borussia Dortmund tonight – that game is on Setanta and Sky One. #chepsg

Monkey Planet (BBC One, 9pm)

New big-budget BBC nature series about the human species’ “bizarre and colourful” primate relatives.  In this first episode we’ll meet an orang-utan who uses soap and see presenter George McGavin strip off in the Japanese Alps. #monkeyplanet

The People’s Debate with Vincent Browne (TV3, 10pm)

Ireland’s favourite cranky sexagenarian will be dealing with equality and feminism in the second monthly instalment of his political discussion show. Billed as “Democracy TV”, this episode will take place in front of an all-female audience – and if the last one is anything to go by, Twitter will be aflame. #vinb

Trending: #TheValleys

@MTVTheValleys @MTVTheValleys

MTV’s reality-show shocker set in Cardiff was the most-tweeted-about show in the UK last night, gathering no fewer than 16,500 tweets. Possibly because it saw some of the show’s inimitable stars film a music video. Sounds like it didn’t go too well.

Or switch over for…

  • Masterchef (BBC One, 8pm) First of the second week of heats.
  • Masterchef Ireland (RTÉ One, 8.30pm) Or if you prefer your food with an Irish flavour…
  • Why Poverty? (RTÉ One, 11.35pm) Legendary documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney takes on wealth and poverty in America, through the story of one New York street.
  • Secret Eaters (Channel 4, 8pm) Reality show about people who are baffled by their weight increase.
  • An Dubh ina Gheal (TG4, 9.30pm) Documentary on the hidden story of the Irish in Australia.
