7 tv spin-offs the Breaking Bad creators could learn from

There’s a show about Saul Goodman in the mix!

ACCORDING TO BREAKING Bad creator, Vince Gilligan, a spinoff is in the works.

Apparently the show will focus on Saul Goodman, the lawyer responsible for getting Walt and Jesse out of countless scrapes.

This is great news for fans who are not looking forward to saying goodbye to the original series later in the year.

One can only hope that it will match up the original in terms of quality, as many other spin-offs have done previously.

Here are a few previous spin-offs this one could learn a thing or two from.

Frasier

Frasier was borne out of Cheers, and hit TV screens in 1993.

It ran til 2004, and is considered one of the most successful spin-offs in television history.

Count Duckula

There were four series of this magnificent cartoon which found its origins in Dangermouse.

Drama, vampires, reincarnation…it truly has it all.

Holby City

Holby City goes beyond the hospital setting of it’s parent show, Casualty.

As a result it’s soapier, and perhaps a little sexier.  It’s had 15 series so far, but shows no signs of stopping.

The Simpsons

What originated as a sketch on The Tracy Ullman Show is now the longest running American sitcom of all time.

You can’t argue with that.

Saved By The Bell

We bet you didn’t even know that this was a spin-off!

If you did, you’re smarter than us.  Originally the show was called Good Morning Miss Bliss, and focused on a teach played by Hayley Mills.

After one series it was renamed and the focus switched from the teacher to her students.  The rest is after school history!

Angel

Ok, let’s be honest.  Nothing was every going to be as good as Buffy, but Angel made a good stab at keeping fans going.

It ran for five seasons, and finished up in 2004.

Glenroe

Glenroe was a spin-off of Bracken, which was a spin-off of The Riordans, so we’re talking spin-off squared here.

Who can deny that its 18 seasons are a national treasure?
