DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.
The Young Pope (Sky Atlantic, 9pm)
The ads have been everywhere – and tonight’s your first chance to see Jude Law larking around as the actual Pope. Yes, the premise seems a bit mad – a fictional Pope Pius XIII, played by Law – but the fact that it’s HBO/Sky co-production means we have to give it the benefit of the doubt. Diane Keaton is Sister Mary, too, so it’s not short on big names. #TheYoungPope
Gogglebox Ireland (TV3, 9.30pm)
The sixth episode of the series will see the crew tackle the week’s Irish TV. The stars so far have been the Tully twins, the Cabra girls, The Gruffertys and the Ryan family – but every week the quality one-liners are plentiful. #goggleboxIRL
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (RTÉ 2, 9.30pm)
The Irish premiere of the Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone sequel doesn’t hit the heights of the original. This is mostly down to Jamie Foxx’s unconvincing villain – but it’s probably worth a watch on a pre-payday Thursday night. #Spiderman2
Everyone’s talking about… the date for the new series of Sherlock dropped last night
The three new episodes will begin in the new year – and a teaser trailer landed straight after GBBO last night:

Fans have waited quite a while for this:
Capturing the massive GBBO audience with a major announcement:
Or flick over for…
- Step Brothers (Comedy Central, 9pm) Will Ferrell and John C Reilly star.
- Ear to the Ground (RTE One, 8.30pm) Back for a brand new series.
- Titanic (Film4, 6.15pm) ”I HAVE A CHILD!” Catch Billy Zane’s career highlight on the +1 if 6.15pm is a bit early.
- The Enemy Files (RTE One, 10.15pm) The Easter Rising from the British point of view.
