What to watch on TV tonight: Wednesday

Here’s the telly that everyone will be talking about tomorrow.

DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

12 Years a Slave (RTÉ One, 9.35pm) It might feel like a Tuesday but it’s definitely, actually Wednesday… so that means the Midweek Movie is back – and tonight it’s a cracker. Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch and Brad Pitt lead the way in this Oscar-dominating film from 2013. Harrowing in parts, but overall a must watch.

Operation Transformation (RTÉ One, 8.30pm)

It’s back! And it’s the most January programme of all time. Irish people try to lose weight and get fit with the expert help of a personal dietician, fitness instructor and psychologist – with Kathryn Thomas presenting from the sidelines.

The Imitation Game (Film4, 9pm)

Biopic of mathematician Alan Turing, whose work during the Second World War translated seemingly unbreakable Nazi codes as well as pioneering the development of computer technology. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley and Matthew Goode.
