What to watch on TV tonight: Monday

Here are the shows that will be on your Twitter timeline this evening.

Every lunchtime, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

First Dates: Celebrity Special (Channel 4, 9pm)

Tonight’s First Dates has a bit of a twist – as a rake of celebrities will be joining the hopeful singletons. Alexandra Burke, Jamie Laing and Anthea Turner are among the celebs taking part – and the regular contestants don’t have a clue. #FirstDates

Person of Interest (RTÉ 2, 8.05pm)

It’s the return of the drama about “a supercomputer that predicts crimes and the people who work to prevent them.” If you’ve caught any of this series before, you’ll know it’s a top notch US import. If you haven’t been following, now might be the time to pick it up #PersonOfInterest

University Challenge (BBC Two, 8pm)

More people seem to be watching this series than ever before. And if the quality of the jokes on Twitter keep up at this rate, it will be truly memorable. Sure we hardly ever get questions right anyway, we’re here for the gags and Paxman. #UniversityChallenge

Everyone’s talking about… Simon Cowell had a bit of an outburst on The X Factor last night

He said a bad word too.

Throwing rapper Mason Noise off the stage, Simon said:

Why don’t you shut up? Why don’t you apologise to those people who spent hours editing your tape. Don’t insult my show and my producers.

Good move, Mason.

Or flick over for…

  • Bridget Jones’s Diary (ITV2, 9pm) A stone cold classic and perfect for any Monday night in.
  • Apres Match of the Day (RTE 2, 9.55pm) A sideways look from the Apres Match team at the famous Ireland victory over Holland in 2001. McAteer!
  • Vikings (RTÉ Two, 9pm) The epic historical drama continues.
  • The Iron Lady (Film 4, 11.35pm) Meryl Streep’s perfectly on the money portrayal of Thatcher. Late night Monday TV has never been so, eh, fun.
