What to watch on TV tonight: Wednesday

Here are the shows that’ll be on your Twitter timeline this evening

Every lunchtime, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

Peep Show, Channel 4, 10pm

The El Dude brothers are back for one final shot at trying to be real life adults. The ninth and final season sees Jez and Mark not living together - shock – and Super Hans back on the straight and narrow. Once more into the breach, dear friends. #PeepShow

Downton Abbey, TV3, 9pm

The last ever episode of Downton hits TV3 tonight (although there is a Christmas special coming up, so all is not lost) and Edith doesn’t know if she should reveal all to Bertie or to keep everything a secret. Farewell, Downton – it’s been a good run. #Downton

Blue Jasmine, RTÉ One, 9.35pm

The Irish premiere of Woody Allen’s excellent drama is the best midweek movie that has graced RTÉ in ages. A great performance by Cate Blanchett as the socialite who has lost it all – and Alec Baldwin as the man who made it happen. #BlueJasmine

Everybody’s talking about… Strictly getting away with using the word “bollocks” before 9pm last Saturday

The offending word was given the all clear yesterday. Expect more of it to come before the watershed across the water now, surely?

There were 19 complaints when Bruno said it on Saturday night:

Bad Bruno.

 Or switch over for…

  • Zero Dark Thirty (Film4, 9pm) The hunt for Osama Bin Laden is a tense watch.
  • Second Captains Live (RTÉ 2, 9.55pm) The final episode of the series sees Jim McGuinness and Tony Cascarino on the couch with the lads.
  • You Should Really See a Doctor (RTÉ One, 8.30pm) A new series of the two doctors bringing medical help to the nation’s doorsteps. They’ll be at your front door next.
  • Masterchef: The Professionals (BBC Two, 8pm) The series continues – with even more contestants who are class at cooking putting on a show and getting judged harshly for our entertainment.
