First Dates: Celebrity Special (Channel 4, 9pm)
The restaurant opens its doors for a special episode in aid of Stand Up to Cancer, with maitre d’ Fred and his team welcoming celebrities in for dates with us lowly members of the public. Singer and TV personality Sinitta arrives in search of a “music-loving gentleman with old-school manners”, DJ Roman Kemp (pictured) has an eventful date and there’s a Tory MP who hopes a meal with 61-year-old fantasy writer Jan might mark a change in his romantic fortunes. She should be able to give a good insight on last year’s Brexit campaign, given her expertise.
RTE Investigates – Nightmare to Let (RTÉ One, 9.35pm)
An undercover report revealing the experiences of people living in sub-standard rented accommodation. The programme exposes serious over-crowding, buildings that pose dangers to the tenants and the money to be made by the landlords. This promises to be a real eye-opener on the state of the situation in Ireland.
Harry Styles at the BBC (BBC One, 8pm)
A one-off special in which the One Direction star performs tracks from his self-titled debut album, including the song that launched his solo career, Sign of the Times. In between numbers, he talks to Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw about his career to date, being a solo artist and the start of his acting career, having appeared in Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed war movie Dunkirk earlier this year.
